Reviews
Since the restaurant opened in Glasgow's Merchant City in 2002,
The Dhabba has achieved an astounding reputation, with rave reviews
and awards from food critics.
In April 2003, The Dhabba won The List magazine's Best Newcomer
award for 2003/2004.
With reviewers and food guides from the Guardian to the Evening
Times heaping praise on the Dhabba's curries, the verdict is clear -
the restaurant is one of the UK's leading Indian diners, and one of
the top destinations for eating out in Glasgow city centre.
Top 10 UK Curry Houses, The
Guardian
Authentic north Indian cuisine right in the heart of the
Merchant City, so, as you might expect, it's done with a rather
trendy twist — sleek, modern décor and eye-watering prices to
match (mains come in over the £10 mark). But then our curry
houses have always been a bit keen compared to those south of
the border. Nevertheless, I've had to queue when I've been, so
we're obviously not complaining about the quality of the food.
In fact, the Guardian said: "If we're lucky, this could become
the model for 21st-century UK curry houses..."

UK curry houses"
Louise Welsh, Sunday Times
"Staff at the Dhabba in Candleriggs boast that their North
Indian cuisine 'will be like nothing you have ever tasted' -
they are right"
Tam Cowan, Daily Record
"A tremendous night of proper Indian food with plenty of
different flavours to tantalise the taste buds, and, yes, this
is definitely one place I would recommend."
Diner Tec, Glasgow Evening Times
"It's a stylish, friendly place with chunky wooden seats and
tasteful dark green table linen and pleasant staff who make you
feel welcome the moment you walk in. The Dhabba offers authentic
North Indian cuisine - so forget about bright pink chicken and
tasteless nan bread, this is the real thing."
Matt Smith, The Metro
"Things are definitely hotting up in the Merchant City"
The List
"Dhabba makes many of Glasgow's bog
standard restaurants - not just Indian ones - seem like
dinosaurs. The dining area is a well-lit open space with plenty
of fashionable natural wood and tiles, well-suited for larger
groups. There are only a few familiar dishes on the menu, but
knowledgeable waiting staff are keen to assist, recommending
choices to suit individual tastes..."
